After everything they've all been through, they still want conflict. I don't understand.

I don't know what the fuck is going on. These are both people I give a big fuck about. All of them. Gilia, Cesare, Junpei--some of it might have been inevitable but jesus.

Iggy sounded — thrilled about it. They heard a woman's anger and pain and thought that they'd take it for themselves.

No one is asking her if she wants any of this.

She's been the only thing between Cesare and an ass-beating for a while. If she steps out of the way, and everyone's still wound up from--

I think everyone's...everyone's trying to be kind about the people who were brainwashed, but everyone's still fucking hurt.

[ He's quiet while he mulls, and very sure about the first conclusion: ]

[ The rest comes hesitant, not for any unsureness, but a slight wariness with implying something so harsh, even privately: ] I can't speak for the rest.

[ She won't speak on whether she believes him. ]

I hope they change their minds.

Yeah, well. All of them are stubborn as shit. Your energy is gonna be better spent on Gilia. If you wanna help, I guarantee you she feels like shit.

[energeia]

You're right, Quentin. I'll do that.

What's your Xanax supply looking like?

[ Her silence is agreement. ]
