I was so ridiculous on whatever was in the food. I think I went at things too hard and I’m paying for it.

[ A snort. ] I mean, just physcially I’d be a little worried about the aftermath for you, yeah. Have you ever been that drunk?

Except for my mom giving me sips of stuff when I was a kid I never drank before I came here. I’d see how embarrassing she’d get when she got drunk and didn’t want any part of that.

[ That’s—a lot. There’s a few extra seconds of quiet on his end. Then, seriously, concerned: ]

...Junpei, are you okay?

No, every possible part of my body is killing me including some I didn’t even know I had.

But I thought we’d established that already.

Yeah, I mean that's typical hangover stuff, though, I mean like are you gonna be okay? How much of what's killing you can you put to rest with willow bark, water, and a hot bath?

… are any of us really okay here?

[ Aren’t they all just constantly in at least a minor state of discomfort? The whole place is a discomfort, sometimes even if it’s on a low simmer, it’s always there.

A beat. He decides saying that kind of thing is just going to tie Quentin in knots, so he adds: ]

I’ll be fine. Eventually.

[ He won’t be. But there’s nothing the other can do about it, so why burden him? ]

[pharmacy]

[ That doesn't exactly detangle him, but he knows a shutdown when he hears one, at least. It's fine--it's not like they won't run into each other; he can keep an eye out. ]

...Okay. You gonna be good for shift this afternoon?

Ughhhhhhhhh.

[ But. House won’t show up, right? There’s no way.

Now with even more to distract himself from than before, the desire to work the world away gets stronger. ]
